I think ronaldo has a great chance at winning the european and world player of the year awards..yes kaka is good...but if u compare them ronaldo is better. Most of kaka's goals come from penalties, whereas ronaldo uses his own skill to create goals from nothing, hes a better team player now and creates a lot of goals too. i think he deserves to be crowned as world and european player of the year this year! |

shevchenko should win them
ronaldo deserves them both.after what happened at th world cup he's come out a far better player.he knows when to use his tricks and knows when to pass the ball |

Ronaldo also scored a lot of penalties last year. <_< I think that Kaka fully deserves the award as he was the inspiration behind Milan's Champions League win and the best player in the Champions League which usually counts for a lot with these awards. |

Messi second?
Are you going off his performances from this season there? |

Messi will come 3rd behind Ronaldo, if he continues the way he's going you never know, he did get a hat-rick against Madrid last season & the two "Maradonna" goals as well, but barca going out early in Europe will cost him |

It's those 3, Kaka, Ronaldo and Messi. Yes we might argue the merits between Ronaldo and messi but everyone seems pretty sure Kaka is nailed on for the winner!

kaka can't change a game the same way ronaldo can, and ronaldo also shared the penalty kicks with saha, so he coulda scored mroe...whereas kaka scored amost if not all his team's penalties. |

Do you really see enough of Kaka and Messi playing to make such a comment? Ronaldo rarely has apoor game. End of last season he ran out of steam like the whole Utd team. |

when it comes to playing the big teams ronaldo for some reason doesn't really perform.i'm a big fan of his but you rarely see him play well against the top teams. |

Hmm I think this has been blown out of proportion. End of last season losses to Milan and Chelsea, he was already running on empty. For Portugal he was their outstanding player at Euro 2004 and WC 2006. He can do it in big games. Also don't forget big teams identify him as our most dangerous player so he gets more attention than anyone else. That said though, y ou watch him tear the big teams apart this season.
