Interesting that when McClaren was appointed one of the other hot favourites for the job was Stuart Pearce, now he's not even in the running....how times have changed

Interesting that when McClaren was appointed one of the other hot favourites for the job was Stuart Pearce, now he's not even in the running....how times have changed

Even Stuart Pearce was a little embarrassed to be mentioned he'd had a good run with City but that had come to an end before the decision making process was started.

McClaren's Middlesbrough meanwhile were doing well in the cups. Performing heroics in the UEFA over turning deficits etc. When he got them to the final, he got the job and Middlesbrough didn't turn up for the final.

That's part of the problem..........appointments being made on a lucky run of good form!

But that's the FA  If I didn't care, I'd be laughing

No, Pearce wasn't good enough then and isnt good enough now.

Would you trust Pearce at the helm of Arsenal, Liverpool, United et al?

We have to remember that the England managers job should be taken by someone at the pinnacle of managerial ability, its should literally be a best of the best position. Something the FA would do well to remember too.....

so which managers would fit into this Best of the Best category??
