They have reduced Dida's ban from 2 games to one now after this theatrical fall to the floor after being brushed by the Celtic fan. It doesn't send out a good message about the disciplinary procedure... |

I know people wont agree but, though he was out of order, i still thought 2 game ban was harsh, especailly seeing that Celtic got a £12k fine, for a fan running on and striking a player. |

Both decisions were terrible, both were to be expected coming from uefa |

Maybe it was a little harsh in the first place but I don't think it's right that they hand out a ban in the first place and then change it when the club moans about it. They should stick to their decision. |

But then, if you have people like Uefa or the FA in charge, you have to have some sort of room for appeal, because these guys really dont know what there doing. |

No it would appear not. I guess there would be no point in appealing in the first place either if they always rejected the appeals.

A 2 game ban seemed reasonable to me but changing the sentence on appeal is ridiculous. There was no new evidence, mitigating circumstances etc. If it was worth 2 games in the first place then it's worth 2 games now. Pathetic weak administration doing more damage to their credibility. |

Is brushing somebody's face classed as assault?
What happens if he had a crumb around his mouth and the fan was just flicking it off?

In this case and our PC world it probably would be classed formally as assault. Even though it was ridiculously trivial, there is more concern about what he could have done, rather than what he actually did. Celtic have now banned the guy for life! so they took it pretty seriously. I'm sure Dida's slow brain finally figured that if he made something of it, the result might be changed, ot that it would advantage his club. His problem is that by the time he made up his mind to pretend that he was hurt everyone had already seen that he wasn't and with TV there we all get to check again later. He was trying to seek unfair advantage with his ungentlemanly conduct with regard to blatent and extremely embarrassing simulation. He should be punished even if t was the most embarassing acting since John Redmond pretended he knew the words to the Welsh National Anthem and forever scuppered his chances of becoming Conservative party leader. |

I haven't got the foggiest who the politician is!Yeah they should take it seriously too as he could have killed Dida! I agree, Dida's reaction was all wrong and just as bad for trying to cheat. I believe it's not the first time that he's done it either. |

John Redmond was Welsh Secretary in Maggie Thatcher's or John Major's Government. He's on the top table at a formal Welsh 'do' and the Welsh national anthem is sung. He stands there opening and closing his mouth hopelessly out of sync with the complicated Welsh words, kind of like a very poorly dubbed martial arts film, but he keeps smiling and trying for the whole song. Like I've started so I'll have to finish, it was very embarrassing. When he later (twice) tried to stand as leader they whip out this footage (twice) and he's dead in the water.
