Hey Keegan's a really sound bloke, always prepared to speak to us mere mortals at one time, as a player he was England's saviour. I met him twice and he was brilliant both times even though the first time I walked in on him at a Manchester hotel and he was promoting a German butter in some official capacity. Despite speaking there in German he politely asked us to give him a few minutes to finish because this was important and promised to come out and chat to us. Great great guy, not one of those celebs who has his head stuck up his anus. When we lost to germany in that last game at Wembley, he didn't need sacking, he came out and said that he didn't think he had the necessary tactical awareness to do this job and was therefore resigning. No £2.5 million contract sign off for him. If you ever get the chance to chat to Kevin Keegan, take it! |

I wondered where that was going. He sounds like a nice bloke. I hope none of his curly perm got stuck in the butter.

First week at Uni, October 1979 and England were training at the University playing fields before flying off for a game against N.Ireland. 5 of us bunked off lectures to mix with the england squad and we all did. Can't imagine it happening these days though. |
