who do you support: Stoke City where do you live: Lincoln.. at the moment why do you support them: Never had the luxury of choice. favourite player: erm... does Ricardo Fuller count? favourite ex-player: Stan Matthews - never saw him though. something interesting: Broke three out of four of my limbs playing, don't play much now. It hurts. More of a reader than a poster to be honest, I have my opinions but from what I've seen of some football forums only those of 'top four' teams seem to considered valid and too many threads seem to degenerate into slanging matches. Introduction though, I'm a squaddie, due to PVR (leave the services) after ten years service quite soon. Don't get to see my team too often due to 'commitments' but love 'em all the same. Really can't promise I'll be a prolific poster and probably not on those threads concerning Prem sides but hey, pleased to meet you all and hello! ps. C'mon Stoke vs the Toon! |

Cheers for that mate, understand you. At times they seem to equate your teams standing with your knowledge. Sure there are top four team's followers who know their stuff, but those who support the 'lesser teams'- in my opinion and experience - know a little more about the game in its entirety because they have a greater insight into its lower depths. We all follow and take an interest in the elite, but there's football beyond that elite, which some take for granted at best and at worst, ignore. Sometimes the arrogance astounds me, sometimes the knowledge impresses me, but that's not to say I consider myself some sort of guru - far from it, I thought Shevchenko would succeed and Torres flop when talking amongst friends. I would just like to see football fans, and I mean 'football' fans talk rationally amongst themselves without the ridiculous bias and superior attitude from followers of supposed better clubs. Might sound a wee bit high and mighty here, apologies if i do. Just ask for a little bit of respect from big club fans before I throw my oar into the ring. |
