But its not a dissapointment in the league is it? We are in a far better position than we were in last season, best away record in the league and still undefeated. We have had more draws at home at this stage than we wanted but we are very much still in the fight.
Your first point above isn't exactly what I was saying. This is Rafa's 4th season and having had such a great start he did shoot himself in the foot with his rotation which failed to deliver in the CL and the league (which defeats the purpose of rotating). My point was not that you're not in a good position in the league, after all Chelsea were still in the CL when Mourhino's problems with Roman started last January. But those problems eventually led to something much worse.

I wouldnt put much similarity in the situation here and the Roman/Mourinho one as its was obvious that they were not seeing eye to eye for a very long time. Plus Roman see's chelsea more as his toy at times, just wanting to be entertained more than anything else.
Maybe chelsea is a play thing, but Roman's no mug he's still a business man, and that's why he did not want to spunk money when Mourhino wanted it. Gillett/Hicks are no different in that respect. And I think the point about Roman wanting to "entertained" was just an excuse put out as a "reason" for sacking Mourhino, whereas the truth was something different.

I agree with you regarding the media, they need a story to justify their own jobs. Never let the facts get in the way of a good story! But I do think the comments from Gillett/Hicks and Rafa have also fuelled the story. But as a United supporter looking at what's happened at Chelsea and what's being reported about at Liverpool all I can say is, there but for the grace of god go one and all.

BTW can you at least fill those huge spaces with some pics!

aye in many cases I agree, especially that Rafa and the owners have undoubtedly added fuel to the fire

But the fire seems to be being stoked by firelighters/gasoline and just about every propellant known to man....all supplied by the media!

The level to which this has gotten beggars beleif and its hugely above what the actual facts are. For instance some of the things that have been reported so far have been insane. Thus far I have been told that Rafa walked out on Sunday night and that was him quitting liverpool. I've had Rafa has been shouting and screaming at the owners for their decisions, in truth he hasnt actually spoken to them directly for some time now as Foster is the person actually speaking to Rafa.

We have had Mourinho is already set up to take the position, hang on isnt there a compensation issue there, I can really see the owners wanting to pay Chelsea in order to get mourinho

The list goes on and its simply astounding, the only facts that we have had are that rafa came to a press conference miffed and repeated the same phrase over and over again, in the match that weekend he reported that it was down to a transfer issue but in his own words he said that it wasnt a big problem. Later its mentioned that it was a free transfer that he was after and that he was worried about losing said target. Its rumoured that the target has indeed been lost and that rafa was upset but has since stated that he does not want to leave anfield at all to quell the reports coming thorough.

From the owners all we have is that rafa should concentrate on the coming games and that they will meet in mid december, thats since been repeated.

Overall it shows that there is an issue and its to do with a free transfer target that rafa wanted, to me, an I mean this honestly not just as a club supporter, it really doesnt sound like anything thats going to end in club and manager parting ways.

Yes I agree I don't believe Rafa is leaving or that the owners will get rid of him. That is just NOT gonna happen. My comparisons were only in the situation rather than anything else. For one thing I think the personalities in play here are different. Mourhino is very arrogant and abrupt with people, Rafa's a different animal, preferring to consider things more. The owners also. I'm more concerned for the situation because it seems that big clubs + rich new owners + managers seems to bring its own problems as well as its rewards. This can be said of Hearts, Chelsea, Liverpool, and had United not done as well last season then maybe.....

seems more often to also be a bigger target for the vultures to attack too. People want them to fail to make a big story out of it.

Sadly some people tend to believe it a bit more than others, as is fairly evident in this thread

I have to say I'm surprised the liverpool bias media in this country has turned on liverpool. Guess their loyalties go out the window when the chips are down and the vultures are looking for scraps!

well when news is short and you have a chance at a big cull, anythings fair game.....

One thing really interesting though was the writer for some of the most attacking news reports.

One Chris Bascombe, used to work for the Liverpool Echo and was known then for some pretty realistic reporting on the merseyside clubs due to many of his contacts. HE recently took a job as a sports reporter for the Mirror, a lot of people were not too happy about that and publically lambasted him for it. Some a little jaded perhaps?

and HOMER, Pm'ing me and demanding that i stop arguing and admit your right is not a way to win a debate.

You need to bring facts to the table, bring factual evidence to back up your claims, a bit like how you failed miserably at it in the "arsenal are the fairest in the land" claims

i respect u for that ... no nonsense from jimmymac

wereas homer sometimes makes things up but hes alright really :P

just backing up his team like any other red blooded male would right?

u both alright really

I'm not automatically doubting this, but think about it, what would you expect them to say?(whatever went on). Rafa overstepped the mark in his criticism of his employers, for sure he'll have been told to curb it or else.

Now it's not the end of the world and everyone can get over it I'm sure but what has been said has been said, you don't mess with people like Gillett and Hicks, believe me.
