10 points with a game in hand is not bad but i dont see you winning the league this season nor chelsea. its between arsenal to man utd with letter having the edge due to african nations cup

Might be a bridge too far this season, but 7 points (assuming the win on the game in hand) still keeps liverpool in the mix IMO.

i've never thought we would this season, all i want to see is that at the end we are within shouting distance of the top.

Lets not forgets though december is a gruelling time and its this month that the squads with more depth will probably pick up better points around christmas and new year.

I reckon we will go into the new year within 6-7 points of the top still with our game in hand (bold prediction i know but just a feeling i have). Still in fourth place with united at the top and chelsea and arsenal only a few points back.

Will still make the title race exciting but I fully expect united to take it :)

10points adrift of Arsenal(albeit game in hand) is alot to be going into Xmas and knowing how easily Liverpool drop points I feel that another slip up will rule them out of contention. I also feel Man City will give them a good run for 4th.
YESSSSSSSSSSS WELL DONE WEST HAM GET IN THERE

Have United gained two new fans today? :ph43r:

Only joking lads. :)

I don't think so, there were too many points dropped in games before this the other week when Liverpool kept drawing games. It's not impossible but it's highly unlikely.

Not looking good though, Liverpool would have to avoid defeat against all of the other top 4 teams in away matches...

They have to but it would have to be an incredible run from Liverpool with dropping virtually no points. Plus Arsenal, United and Chelsea would all have to drop quite a few i nthe meantime which doesn't look like happening.

lest we forget post christmas is historically our best period, has been for the last god knows how many years :)

Plus add to that I dont think the title will just rely on who beats the other top teams the most as there are far more lower teams that have the potentially to beat the top 4 too.

Plenty more points will be dropped along the way, not even up to half way yet :)

Yes, the fat lady hasn't even entered the building, so it's nonsense to suggest it's all over for anyone yet. You just prefer to be top. Utd, IMO have the best squad and more matchwinners, but that doesn't give them a huge edge. Arsenal, who I didn't see being a major force this year keep pushing on and it's difficult to see many teams coping with them. Their squad lacks experience so i'm hoping this is going to show soon. Arsenal haven't had any beef in midfield attack for a while but eboue is adding jagged steel these days (he ain't an angel and probably shouldn't have been playing yesterday anyway). With Fibreglass and Hleb back though arsenal are looking a little too useful for my liking.

Chelsea have real strength but aren't quite the same without Drogba and what about Cech yesterday? one game when I really wanted him to prove he's the best. That said VDS is worrying me this season. Vidic and Rio are getting well deserved plaudits but Evra and Brown have made for a great back 4, which is just as well because VDS has not been convincing. Almunia had a good game yesterday and I always think Reina looks both very able and reliable.

Torres has added quite a lot to the Liverpool threat but yesterday had poor support/service. I thought last season that Kuyt was really useful but he wasn't on the ball much yesterday. Maybe Liverpool would have done better with Crouch who I now predict won't be leaving next month. I think he'll think he's higher than Kuyt in the current pecking order so he'll always make the bench, at least, and with england not in Euro 2008 he doesn't need to be playing first 11 for a place, which he probably thought he would need to be.

Liverpool aren't out of it and may well be very influential in where the title goes but of the top 4, they now have the most to do to win it. (master of the bleeding obvious!)
