Maybe Liverpool would have done better with Crouch who I now predict won't be leaving next month. I think he'll think he's higher than Kuyt in the current pecking order so he'll always make the bench, at least, and with england not in Euro 2008 he doesn't need to be playing first 11 for a place, which he probably thought he would need to be.

Why would Crouch think that he's infront of Kuyt when Kuyt started the match?

Rafa already said that Crouch wouldn't be leaving in January.

Liverpool probably would have been better with Babel and Crouch starting instead of Kewell and Kuyt as those two caused more problems in the 20 minutes or so that they got than the other two in the rest of the match.

I think Kuyt looked very ordinary/poor and rafa will now realise that he isn't everything he'd hoped. He is ineffective against good defences and Liverpool will need better. Whatever Crouch's shortcomings (or should that be longcomings) he offers Liverpool something different and his height can always create something. Even if he's off his game he'll keep the opposition defences busy.

Kuyt has played that way for much of the season though and still seems the preferred choice, his shocking decision making in the 0-0 with Blackburn springs to mind. I think that Rafa likes his work rate more than anything else.

ya best protect ya neck
Kuyt is like Alsn Smith good work rate not prem striker though.

Liverpool cant win the league as long as they have Gerrard, IMO when the gmae is played at frantic pace he is best in the world, so easy to stop Liverpool slow the game down and dont let Gerrard shoot job done. Was so suprised how easy yesterday was. VDS WAS LIVERPOOLS BEST PLAYER :D

Rafa Benitez has what it takes to win La Liga because the league has less intensity but I feel he will never win the Premierleague because to win this league you have to be so consistent, infact its the hardest league in the world. Liverpool rotate too much and it can work for some games but over 38games it will cost you badly so sorry Liverpool fans it is a 3 horse race now.

A consistent team sheet may be the key for Liverpool, an area let down this season by rotation, but moreso by a list of injuries to key personnel. Rafa is a class act but his team selections must be a little infuriating to Pool fans sometimes. I don't think Liverpool are that far away from finding the winning formula.
