If you look at the games between the top 4 having played one leg in effect, is this a fair reflection of the difference between the top 4 at this moment? United - 7 Points Arsenal - 5 Points Liverpool - 2 Points Chelsea - 1 Point |

No but you have to beat the other teams in the title race if you're going to win the league and we've got 7 from 9 which is a good record. |

Well looking at the league table now then no. But thats the top 4 I'd have come the end of the season. Maybe 3rd and 4th could be different.. |

these matches dont really count unless you can beat the smaller teams in the league |

Yeah, but I was looking at a direct comparison in the strength and ability of each team of players against each other. For example as a team/squad are united a little bit better than arsenal and are both that much better than liverpool, and are liverpool slightly ahead of chelsea? |

that doesn't mean that your squad is stronger.all that means is that you do well against the good teams, but performing well against the big 4 (or 3 if your a big 4 team) and the smaller clubs is a sign of champions |

Well Liverpool are probably worst. I reckon 2 at most of their players would get into the other 3's starting 11. I think we're better than Arsenal upfront and at the back its pretty even although VDS is better than Almunia. In midfield, Ronaldo is better than Eboue, in CM its even and Giggs is better than Rosicky. |

Yes I agree about the smaller teams and how you need to perform against them. thats important for any team to win the title. But I think cos all of the big 4 have played against each other and the results therefore show a DIRECT comparison in the standard of players/squad and that's reflected in the points total I put above. |

Good record for United but Woodbine is right, it means nothing if you don't beat the smaller teams. Lets not forget that home/away will play a part too in the matches between the top 4.... Chelsea played all 3 away United 2 away and 1 home Arsenal 2 home and 1 away Liverpool all 3 at home |

thats the first time somebody has said i was right the home/away fixtures will play a part.liverpool have played at home to arsenal, united and chelsea and liverpool dont really do well on their travels. chelsea have played all three away but stamford bridge is a fortress and it is hard to beat chelsea there. united have played 2 away from ot and united do well there arsenal have played 2 at home but sometimes arsenal can slip up on their travels. so to me the chase for the title isn't over yet for chelsea and liverpool |

I must be invisible, I keep saying I'm not talking about the title race, but a direct comparison between the teams based on the games played between them.
I take on board the home/away advantage tho, that plays some part, but bearing in mind united have 4 of those 7 points away from home it's another factor in the DIRECT comparison between the 4 sides. |
