I think Liverpool miss him desperately. I think most things are in place, they're just lacking his intelligence and creativity. They played some decent football yesterday with a good tempo, but it definately lacked intelligence and finesse. All teams need intelligent players to be at the very top. Arsenal have a few Man Utd, have a few, Chelsea have one or two. |

What i mean is the intelligent kind of player who has great vision and can glue everything together. Like Scholes and Fabregas. Liverpool have no player like that in the team at the moment. England don't have one player like this at their disposal, no wonder everyone wishes Scholes hadn't retired. |

Don't know about intelligent players, maybe they need an intelligent manager. His tactics yesterday were well off. I really wonder whether Rafa gets the prem, he just doesn't believe in sending his team out to win a game in the league against good opposition especially the other top 3. |

i agree with triggle to a point, we do definately miss alonso, his creativity and distribution is superb for us Had he been 100% fit then perhaps playing him in the centre with masch and having gerrard behind torres would have been better but thats all in hindsight and wont change things, defiantely look forward to having him back

They got plenty of players in advanced areas a number of times. But when they did this, they just tried to smash through. They needed to work it around more to pull the defenders about (which is tough against a very disciplined Man Utd defence). To do this they needed someone there to make sure they kept the ball to apply some contant pressure. That's where Alonso could have helped. |

They are intelligent but they're a bit different. I'm talking about central midfield. |

imo voronin is liverpools most intelegent player. alsonos passing especially long range is the almost the best in the prem (after scholes). voronin can see the little passes and flicks to get other players in and IMO should play just behind torres. maybe play: torres voronin babel gerrard alonso benayon back 4 reina i dont think alsonso is a creative mid though |

Doesn't long range passing count as being creative? It does for me. The trouble with that is, Alonso wouldn't protect the defence as much as Mascherano and they would have been even more susceptible to United's counter. You could have Gerrard sitting back to protect more but I don't think tht would anable the best in Gerrard to be seen either. |

Haha yeah that would be a good player as it's not like Alonso ventures forwards much. |
