Wouldnt the PL become less competitive if teams must play atleast 6 English players? In fairness theres not that many good ones. And if it's the same in every league then alot of the foreigners would be out of jobs

Probably because there aren't that many top British players to go round as you can see by the number at the top 4 clubs already. Maybe the team with the best homegrown youth system would take over the league. It would get rid of all the shite foreigners that come over but enable them to keep the good ones.

Nah it's a bad idea in my view. The PL is the best league in the world and this wold just undermine that. The other leagues who have this in place are poor standard. If Englaish players anrent good enough then so be it. Instead of think up of these stupid ideas they should force them to build top quality youth facilities if they want quality players. |

Clubs would end up fielding players just because they're English. We'll only be the best league in the world if we allow every player to take their place on merit. How are we supposed to encourage hard working English players if we give them a starting place based on what their passport says, just to fill a quota? It would be far better to have 3 or 4 English players who actually deserve it than to take mediocre players to Europe just so we can brag about how many home grown players we have. Of course, a team full of top English talent is the dream

The English national team - more like a nightmare. Is Platini really bothered about whether the Premiership is the best league in the world? I can't see it! |

Capello has had a count up and is disappointed that only 38% of the players in the Premiership are English. It sounded like he didn't want to re-call James but had no choice because of the lack of options. |

The trouble we have got is that England has 2 many pro teams. 4 Pro leagues amd one semi pro. France has 2 pro, 1 Semi, Spain has 2 Pro and 2 semi and so does Italy. Look at the number of Pro teams London has alone 14, 14 teams in one city, its crazy. Then compare that to Rome, Paris etc. English players r 2 wildly spread over to many clubs. |

I can't see how that would affect it because how many of those English players could get into the Premiership sides? Not many I wouldn't have thought. There is a reason why they are at the lower league clubs. Take David Nugent for example, was firing them in for fun in the Championship (that's only the second league in England) last season but can't cut it in the Premiership. |
