Capello: Beckham Is England's Ronaldo; Don't make me laugh

Head coach Fabio Capello believes that David Beckham can be England's Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo has been in blistering form for Manchester United this season, scoring 34 goals, while Beckham is considered, by some, to be nearing the end of his best playing days.

But Capello feels that the Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder is the man to improve his side's lack of creativity after England mustered just one shot on target against France at the Stade de France.

"I have a David Beckham," he said. "He can be my Ronaldo and (Wayne) Rooney can be my Fernando Torres (of Liverpool).
....................
Is he having a laugh?

I know. After playing so well that first game too. Anyway it now sounds like Beckham is firmly in Capello's plans. Owen isn't though if the reports today are to be believed.

OK Becks could take that a s a compliament, but i would be right hacked of if i was Rooney. Be sitting there in my swamp thinking "hold on, i am the player thats playing for the Prem leaders, Cap made it sound if i should want to be as good as Torres.............i am" ( Well what Roonet prob though was more along the lines of "uggg ugggg uggggggggg ug" but i thought i better translate) :cheeky: Talk about a way to insult your players lol.

I think you forgot to put this :fishing: at the end of your post. :P

Owen said the players don't know what to do or what Capello wants from them.

I think capello has a good sense of humour and he's having a personal little laugh at the media's expense.

He knows they'll take anything he says seriously and he's probably having a little chuckle with his italian compatriots. He's not Sven or Mcdonut, he is dealing with the over the top english footballing press in his own way.

Yeah, it doesn't make sense. I hope Treble is right and Capello is having a laugh but something tells me he's not.

Get well soon Monu! :)

When I heard this I just imagined Beckham speeding down the wing doing stepovers and everything.

I think Cappelo means Beckham can be man who can make something out of nothing and always keeping the opponents on edge, come to think of it that makes it sounds even worse.
