when was the last time you did something for the first time??
Given all of the fuss over Dwain Chambers running again and Justine Onorugu competing at the olympics, how come so little has been made of a player that by all accounts is a drug cheat (although not found with any drugs the law is if you fail to provide you are treated the same a a user) does anyone think this is contrevertial?
According to my calculations the problem doesn't exist

although treat the same without actual proof he took drugs they cant possibly be looked upon the same. regardless of what the papers say or want you to believe. I am not rios biggest fan but the lad took his ban on the chin ever hear the motto live and let live.

Ferdinand never actually failed the test and I seem to recall Sense saying that he actually passed it the next day when he took it.

He's been the best player in an England shirt for a while now so it seemed sensible to try him out as captain.

On another note, did United carry on paying him during the 8 month ban? I presume they wouldnt have had to.

I just think people forget, he was called all the names under sun when it happened, mainly to do with missing Euro 2004.

if he had been playing for any other club other than utd we wouldn't be having this convo as he would not have carried on as a england international

What makes you say this? He has earnt the right to wear the captain's armband since he came back from that ban imo.

cause back then utd were at the hight of there dominance of english football and the F.A didnt have the balls to come down hard on him. all the talk was about the breakaway g14 league and the F.A and premier league were running scared there marketing machine would pull out if the punishment was too harsh.

If you were giving it to the player that preforms best when he plays for england Joe Cole would be captain at times he seems like the only player that wants to be there

Was the 8 month ban not hard enough punishment? There's players that actually fail drug tests and get shorter bans than that.

I don't remember Joe Cole ever performing that well for England Gooner.
