This is a tricky one because my favourite is also my favourite piece of music, Mahler's 5th Symphony - 4th movement, from Death in Venice, but it wasn't written for the film so it doesn't count really. Here goes anyway. 1. One Hour Photo, the theme is sad and haunting just like the film. Robin Williams was excellent and should have been rewarded with an Oscar nomination. 2. Walkabout, the theme complements the great cinematography perfectly....and a young Jenny Agutter got her kit off. 3. Re-animator, love the dramatic Cello and Violins, and captured the darkness of the low budget horror very well. 4. Shaft, one of the coolest tracks of the 70s and as cool as the movie itself. 5. The Piano, wish I could play the instrument. Matched the drama of the film. And Holly Hunter got her kit off.

Music to deerhunter is a classic, love that tune - The Shadows i think. The Exorcist - thought that theme tune with the piano is excellent. I know this isn't the theme tune, but from a film called The Hunger, there's this scene where they play The Flower Duet from the Opera, Lakme. Most will recognise it from the British Airways ads but thats the pants version. Watch that scene with their version and you will be mesmerised - awesome. Anyone know what I'm talking about or do I sounding barking mad? Another one like that is Shawshank Redemption where he puts on the record on the tannoy, the Duetto-Sul Aria from another opera, The Marraige of Figaro. I've never been to an opera in my life and it doesn't appeal to me at all, but it makes wicked film music Speaking of Happiness by Gloria Lynne from the film, Seven. Just remember it and bought the soundtrack album cos of it. Lalo Schiffrin (spelling) opening music to Mission Impossible - quality! |

The James Bond themetune, everybody knows that and you just have a picture of a guy in a suit with a gun moving about when you hear it.

John Williams composed and played the theme to The Deerhunter, although the Shadows did record their own awful version. (Hank Marvin is one of the crappiest guitarists on the planet). Yep, as Euros says, Tubular Bells in The Exorcist. One of the classic albums of the 70s. Not big on opera myself either Treb but I love the Pearl Fishers Duet by Bizet. I liked Nessun Dorma until it became the theme for the 1990 World Cup, which turned it into the bubblegum pop song of the Opera world. |
