I thought it was about Rio getting married. I dunno i've voted for Rio but Capello might wanna test out JT's mental strength by selecting him as captain, just after the champions league final.

As norwich says he has stated already he's gonna rotate it for the friendlies, and if he's any sort of man manager he would give it to John Terry for this one.

How's it harsh? It shows confidence and backing for a player when arguably he needs it most, and provides something positive for him to feed off straight after a difficult week rather than letting one of your best players continue in the same mental downer for the rest of the summer. Furthermore it'll create a stronger bond between JT and Capello. I can only see positives.

Capello has already said he's rotating so nothing is set in stone. And who's to say he wasn't gonna pick JT next anyway.

Agree with your first point completely.

But I feel it would be unfair to give it to him given the mental state he is in at the moment. In the papers it's written with how sorry and upset his by the missed penalty and I think he should only command England when he is over what has happened and raring to go.

You don't think it'll help his mental state? What happened to JT was a 6itch but 5hit like this builds character and JT is strong enough to come back from it.

But this soon...?

I also belive like you he would be fit enough mentally to be captain, but I want to challenge your point as many people belive Terry really shouldn't be played captain.

tbh i think it's just to help JT which in turn will only benefit england team in the long run.

BUT i don't think JT should be England captain long term. He's one of those players that commands respect for Chelsea because he's come up through the ranks and believes he is the main man there (and rightly so) but imo he doesn't really believe that when he plays for england. You don't see him bringing the best out in himself or others when playing for england. Unfortunately not many english players do but honestly I think Rio has that quality.

Yeah you are right Treble, I was just thinking that he might not be in the right frame of mind to lead a team.
