Would Chelsea really be stupid enough to put in a bid for Torres or has the story just been completely made up by the papers? It's got Hicks to come out and say they wouldn't sell him anyway... |

If Chelsea actually bid 50M for Torres they would be stupid not to take it. They could buy Villa and Quaresma, two players they have followed, and still have money left. |

Only problem with that Dagunners is that Torres has settled very well in England... There's no guarantee that either Quaresma or Villa will adapt as easily. IMO they would be stupid to sell Torres, especially to a team that are their rivals... |

i personally dont think chelsea have made the bid at all and its all media talk, we would never sell him anyway, he's settled and shown he can do it in the prem, it would be foolish to take a gamble on anyone else now. |

Agree Liverpool spent 4 seasons searching for a goalscorer like Torres, they wont cash in on him after just one season |

But Jimmy, this is a business. Maybe the owners will see the 50M, take it, then sell the club. |

not a chance they will, for a start thats not enough profit for them, they have already been offered over £50 million profit each in a take over from DIC. |

could it just be a tactical move though, just to unsettle the lad? He has one or two bad games at the start of the season, the critics will come out immediately saying hes a 1 season wonder, then his head will start wondering and he'll lose concentration on liverpool |

I think it's completely made up as well. Chelsea would just be wasting their time as they know what the answer would be. Plus they should be looking at getting a manager in instead of transfer targets. Hicks has said they wouldn't sell even if a bid did come in for £50m. Must say that I agree with him after the season that Torres has had. If they took the money and bought another striker for say £20m, there's no guarantee that they will be a hit. |

I don't think it's made up, few weeks ago they put a bid in and in fact it was rejected. They they are upping their bid, selling Torres would be such a downwards step, first quality player and we sell him after a season. Besides we have a reported 70m to spend... |
