I thought Italy too... The thing in Russia is quite recent... Hiddink managed to put into place that at least 5 players must be russian....Some of those russian billionaires got 22 nigerians and brazilians and made a squad of them (as in the case of Siberian club Tom Tomsk) Now russian clubs are investing in youth facilities to the eventual benefit of the russian national team.... Just to show that Hiddink is doing more then manage the russian team, he's trying to make russian football as a whole better, by advocating good footie infrastructure in Russia... |

I dont know about others I just know them definetly are. Italy do have some goood young players coming through so its possible they have a quota. Yeah hes doing a great job and Capello should be pushing for the quotas too. In Spain though I think its a bit different. They musnt have more than X number of players from outside the EU. Hence why Robino, Ronaldinho got Spainish passports. |

Well I knew the thing about Spain, I think Italy and Portugal use the same system (though brazilians have a different status there I think, what with Brazil being a former colony and brazilians speaking potuguese) |

Long term if it is implemented it will encourage better youth facilities in England, granted. Sort term it will just inflate beyond belief the price tags on good English players. Note: good, not exceptional. Back when we played Galatasery in the early 90's (1993?) I remember this rule forcing us to play Dion Dublin, and at other various times Beckham may well have started as a greasy haired spotty kid up front. Its frustrating but when you look at it it may have been the back end of this rule that eventually nurished the crop of players that shouldn't have won anything with kids? swings and roundabouts. |

Sorry can't find anything definite on it... I guess we do not have a quota.... The possibilty is certainly being hotly debated though... |

Yeah but that will only change if there is plenty of talent in England.... Also it IS the major drawback of having the best league in the world atm... |

It's nearly Christmas

Not the same rules though as the EU still represents Spain. The rule in La Liga is something like no more than 3 non-EU players in the squad. |
