blatters got it right this time, how can a team in england be allowed to play 11 non nationals from that country, its a disgrace and i'm with him on this one,as for the european union they are the ones who run ruffshod over everyone, trying to tell everyone what they can and can't do |

FIFA are against it so i doubt it would happen, and as i said in another thread playing 5 mediocre english players isnt going to make england a better team, its just going to ruin the prem which is blatter/platini`s real job ,if they are good enough they should make it anyway.

Blatter is FIFA so they are for it. FIFA will get there way as they have found a weakness in the EU arguement. The EU campaigns for youth training and development in all walks of life and FIFA argue that without these new proposals then they are stopping the progress of youngsters. EU has already given its approval to the CL rules of a set amount of players trained/developed in said Country and this shows they dont have the power to stop FIFA. IMO this would help level the playing field as smaller clubs would get proper value for there players and more players would get there break at a higher level. The foreigner rule helped Man Utd become the dominant team of the past decade as they needed to expose young English talent to top level European footie at a young age. |

But the rules the EU do approve of are not about restricting players based on nationality. With those rules, Fabregas would count as a homegrown player

by developed u mean they have played for the team for 5 years, this means ronaldo qualifys and VDS after next year but hargreaves who has only had 1 season in england technically shouldnt as his only conection is that he is "english" and because of this the rule bypasses him logical

Well I heard that it applies to players who have been at a club between the ages of 15 and 18, but I'm not entirely clear on that one. |

If FIFA gets its way then Arsenal, Man Utd and other big clubs wont be able to steal youngsters from ather Countries untill after they have signed at least 1 professional contract at the club that discovered & trained them, therefore making the big clubs produce more home grown talent of there own. There is no way this can be stopped as EU law is for youngsters trained by a company to pay back the value in training in a length of service. ie It cost the military £Y to train me and I owe them a minimum of 3 years service for that privelage of my training, even though I signed a 9 year contract they cant hold me longer than the 3 years. I think its mostly fans of the bigger teams that are the most scared of these rules as it means they may lose there domination over lesser teams. I believe it would be good for World football and having seen Scotland take steps in the right direction I know it helps the National team. |

That is completely right... This is the thing the dutch FA and clubs are worried about. They think it's basically a good rule, but they also think that it should count only for truly (English for example) homegrown players... If that doesn't happen they fear that the big clubs in Europe will poach away young talent at even younger ages, to make sure they can be counted as homegrown players... If they amend that I think they'll have a pretty good rule, and a and a european competition that is less about how much money a club has... |
