Since Gerrard was meant to be man of the match out on the left wing and linked up well with Rooney, could it mean Joe Cole struggling to regain his place?

I would be shocked but happy if Joe Cole's England career was coming to an abrupt end as I rate him as the most skillful player in the England setup.

iv always been unsertain about joe cole. on the left wing he always ALWAYS cuts in and never uses ashley cole who over laps which means if A.cole wants the ball he comes inside also. think cole would be better on the right or through the middle

He's got no chance on the right with Beckham and Bentley fighting it out over there. I'm not sure about him either and I wasn't surprised that he didn't start last night as his form recently has been pretty poor. I can see Capello leaving Gerrard out there since he had such a good game. Bit of an Italian midfield going on with 4 players that can all play central midfield?

I agree, much like Hleb who has been moved out onto the wing. He's got no chance of playing that role for Chelsea though because they don't play that system and Rooney will always be ahead of him for that role for England.

He was dropped yesterday.

If he's England's best player then i've not seen him show it. He scored that one excellent goal against Sweden was it that time nd the rest of the time he's been just as poor as every other player in the squad.

By the next world cup England's big guns will be Young and Walcott.

Great skill on the ball but i've never really been that impressed with what he brings to a team. In fairness though he's never really had a permanent starting place at Chelsea so that could be the reason.

Agreed. Cole is brilliant, just needs to work on crossing.
