Hoops boss Gordon Strachan is said to be extremely keen to bring the Aussie to Parkhead, especially since he is likely to be available on a free transfer as all indications suggest that Liverpool have finally run out of patience with him.

Recent claims in the British media that Australia's great footballing hope has cost Liverpool nearly 160,000 pounds ($331,000) a game since gaining a 5 million pound transfer from Leeds haven't exactly helped the case of Kewell, who at least publicly claims that he is hoping for an Anfield stay.

Injuries and patchy form has seen Kewell toil at Liverpool since moving from troubled Leeds in 2003.  Along with Celtic, Juventus and Newcastle are also said to be prepared to take a chance on the 29-year-old, while a move to MLS side New York Red Bulls is also being mooted.

Kewell's representative has refused to comment on any of the above rumours.

Could this pave the way for McGeady to move to the premiership?

If he plays that is.

Still get to live in the UK too so it will be a good move for him as it's probably the only way he's going to get a European club now.

Good wages, easy football, and Champions League. Good move for him.

Well he will cost nothing except wages & if they are @ a reasonable price could be worth a go for Celtic never know could have a few good yrs left in him

I would be surprised but with Celtic not having a huge war chest free transfers like him could be good

They could just give him a 6 month contract until the transfer window and see how he goes. I guess it's worth the risk from Celtic's point of view.

also seems evident that scotland is a place that players go too for one more big payday,a certain greek at the hoops is evident that even an average player can make an impact north of the border.

city, city , the greatist in the land and all the world, well stockport anyway

Who is the Greek? :S

George Boateng is supposedly wanting to move to one of the two big clubs up there.

Samaras Flak.... But Maineroadman is wrong about the last big pay-day thing... Samaras is waay too young, he still has a career ahead of him... as for him being average, I'm still not sure of that. He did flop at city though...
