I very much disagree with you about 'the grudge' and 'the ring'.... Now psychological horror truly scared me so I do remember what scares me most... and was defo the japanese versions... The ring was very scary but nearly as scary as Ringu, but the remake of the Grudge was just laughable.... The original was really sacry whereas the remake was just waay to obvious. It lacked most of the subtlety of the japanese version...

Honestly I cannot think of any remakes that were better then the original atm...

King Kong (the 3rd version with Jack Black)

Agree about Oceans 11

Batman Begins (does that count)

these are off the top of my head, will post more if I can think of them.

BTW Norwich you're the last person I would've expected to come out with that!

Fair enuff mate :D
Money doesnt necessarily equal success in my head. The same way getting No1 in the music charts doesnt mean the song is good (Mr Blobby, Bob the Builder, Barbie Girl etc)

I dont like horror either (I get genuinely scared) but I have friends who do... watch the japanese versions, if you really want nightmares (I know I had some..) much better then the re-makes (even though I won't be watching them ever again... ;) too scary... )

See the originals it'll scare the cr4p outta ya! :)

I'm trying to think of some other black and whites that have been remade...

The Ten Commandments (stretching it a bit I know seeing as the remake was made in the 50's  )
