Got to dissagree with that desicion, although I agree with the beatles being ONE of the greatest bands ever i think manchester has produced alot more quality bands then liverpool, just look at the List

Oasis
The Stone Roses
The Smiths
Joy Division
New Order
The Buzzcocks
The Verve
Morrissey
Happy Mondays
Badly Drawn Boy
James
Elbow and hans island :P

But no area has had a bigger impact on manchester like the 90's MADchester scene

ITs not just about the bands formed from the area of which I believe we have an equally extensive list, its also about how much is done in liverpool with regards to promoting music, festivals and such. We have the matthews street festival each year which is massive. Bands from around the world come over to showcase their talent. The Summer pops are held every year in which some of the biggest names in music come and play around the city at various venues.

Areas like Matthews street are constantly active with live music and again attracts people from all over to visit to see places like the Cavern Club which has done more than just have the beatles playing.

Theres far more to being the most musical city than simply having bands that grew up in the area.
