ENGLAND stars have been keeping a low profile this summer — because they were told they would be KICKED OUT of the squad if they misbehaved. Fabio Capello decided to hand out a strict warning after his side’s last game of the season at Wembley. His right-hand man Franco Baldini delivered the message and left the players in no doubt that any summer shenanigans would not be tolerated. And so far Capello has been delighted with the response. None of the England squad ventured to Ibiza for a boozy stag party thrown by Wayne Rooney. And they appear to have taken on board Capello’s grim threat, knowing that their embarrassment in not qualifying for the Euro 2008 finals would be heightened if they were caught in summer high jinks. Get-tough guy Capello told Sport of the World: “I don’t want to see them in the newspapers.” The England coach is planning to check on David Beckham’s form and fitness before the friendly against the Czech Republic on August 20. Capello will either go to watch LA Galaxy in action himself or send Baldini. |
