Barry is a fool. He was obviously so sure Liverpool would buy him that he messed up his place at Villa anyway. Between him running his mouth off about MON and the fact that Liverpool could well turn their backs on him it's bound to be awkward. Villa should have accepted the last bid because this whole thing may have ruined the relationship between the player and the club anyway. |

I'm gonna laugh if after all this Liverpool now turn around and are like "Actually, sorry but we don't rate you as highly as Villa do... sorry. Good luck though, yeah?" |

Yes, he is going to look an idiot. I don't know why Liverpool pursued him personally, a Bentley always much more sense. Barry's role is already well covered by Alonso and Mascherano. Yes he could play wide left or cover LB but really in Liverpool's squad he'd be a damned expensive John O'Shea IMO. |

I think Villa pushed too hard, maybe they really expected Liverpool to drop the cash. It may still happen so perhaps my comments are premature but it doesn't seem like it will now... Barry may have some MON ass to lick. |

Agree with you there, both same situation and amazing players don't seem to think ahead.... Just on the liverpool LB situation, why don't they go for Heinze from Real??? :P |

...and the relationship with his fellow Villa players too Treble. Who knows what they are thinking about the whole saga. He's meant to be back in training with Villa now. I'd be amazed if Spurs sold Keane. |

personally i will be glad if we pull out of the barry deal as the money could be better spent on our attack. alonso is 10x the player barry is when hes on form. i think alonso has been lacking confidence over the past couple of seasons but with spains win in the euros, it could give him that confidence boost he needs. i will feel sorry for barry if this does happen tho, poor chap |

I really doubt Spurs would sell Keane to Liverpool. If they're as ambitious as their spending suggests, they need to see Liverpool as a competitive rival. I guess the player could push for a move. |

I agree Alonso is the better player but what's more important for Liverpool, Alonso or the money from his sale to spend on a couple of other positions? |

Ah well, if he wants to keep interest high and maintain an England spot he'll need to perform well for Villa. |

i think we need someone like keane and a left midfielder. if we sell alonso, it will take away from the middle of the park and we would need a replacement. the money would be much needed but with barry being quoted at £18m and alonso being available for £14m its just not a viable option imo |
