lewis hamilton wins the german grand prix at hockenheim with nelson piquet's renault second and felipe massa in the ferrari third.hamilton took an 11 second lead over massa before his pit stop but massa cut that down to 8 seconds after both drivers had made their stops.the safety car came out after a crash by timo glock.most drivers pitted except for hamilton.but when hamilton came into the pits for his last stop he found himself behind massa, piquet, heidfeld and kovalainen.kova let hamilton pass, heidfeld pitted which gave hamilton another position.he then overtook massa at the haipin and a couple of laps later passed piquet at the same hairpin to take the lead again.kimi had a disastrous race stuck behind either a toyota or a bmw. my driver of the day goes to nelson piquet 1. The rat came from no-where. He was on a one-stop strategy and luckily a safety car came in to give him a helping hand. The strategy worked out for him and I don't reckon he's worthy of driver of the day. The strategy was devised by the Renault team. Had he taken a victory it would have been a different story because he would have had to defend himself against LH. |
