Story STAN AND DELIVER By CHRIS BASCOMBE LIVERPOOL’S owners have failed in their latest attempt to show they will have the money to build the £400million Stanley Park stadium. Representatives of Anfield owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett held a key meeting with officials from the North West Development Agency. They were told to clarify their spending plans or risk losing a £9m grant, and being hit with a further bill of £25m if they fail to build at all. However, no details of any financial securities to pay for the arena were given by the club. Hicks and Gillett now have two months to raise the cash or lose the NWDA grant. That will lead to fresh interest from Dubai International Capital, which is intent on buying the club. =+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+ This is not good news for Liverpool, they owners have 2 months to guarantee the cash or they lose a sizeable grant and possibly large fines further down the line anyone think this latest setback indicates Liverpool cant current afford to be investing big in their squad... it seems most clubs are finding it difficult atm how precarius is Liverpool FC's (and Kop holdings) financial position? Obviously this is only really bad news for the American owners as DIC are still going to be waiting in the wings but this could mean further delays in the progression of LFC |

“The trouble with referees is that they know the rules, but they do not know the game.”
|
it would not surprise me at all if they failed to make the deadline. i think the situation was there for all to sea at the beginning of the summer, with rafa having to sell before he can buy because of the financial limitations of the american toss pots. i believe we have take a step back from last year, we may have a slightly stronger squad come the end of the transfer window but that will all be down to the wheeling and dealing of rafa and not the yanks. they have burdened the club with more debt and theres nothing to show for it. i hope that DIC do eventually take over but theres alot of us that are sceptical about this ever happening |
