In the Intertoto cup win over Odense apparently. In the papers today they say that Villa are after giving him a new contract where he can quit if they don't get top 4 this season.

As I've repeatedly said Barry isn't the player Liverpool need, that's not to take anything away from Barry but CM partners for Gerrard already exist, Alonso and Mascherano. If you're buying him to add to the squad but also so he can fill in on LM or LB or even CB if required then £15m is an awful lot of dosh for a John O'Shea type squad member. If Keane goes that's a good signing, if you buy a classy RW then that would be additive, I just don't see what Barry brings except less playing opportunities for some very good players so possibly a drop in squad morale. |

Gerrard wasn't played in central midfield last season, he was further forwards so that left 3 players (Mash, Alonso and Lucas) competing for 2 places. Alonso was also meant to be going to Italy but it looks like that has fell through now so I doubt that Liverpool will still be after Barry. |
