Great signing for Pool. It's gonna be difficult for Liverpool to raise funds for Barry's asking price.

Maybe as Spurs will need to buy a replacement or two.

Good price for Keane though, far better signing than Barry would have been.

Keane

"I would like to place on record my thanks to the board, players and fans of Tottenham for the past six years, which were the best and most enjoyable of my career to date," read the statement.

"I will never forget them. I would specifically like to thank chairman Daniel Levy for understanding, that, as a fan, joining Liverpool is a lifelong dream of mine and one I couldn't let pass me by.

"I hope one day the Spurs fans, who have been brilliant to me, can understand this too.

"I have only good things to say about my time at Tottenham and expect them to go from strength to strength under Juande Ramos and Daniel Levy."

i am not sure. hes 28, so he would be able to invoke the rule. but doesnt that apply only to players with a year to run on their contract?

I guess Spurs were left with no choice if he handed in a transfer request. They probably knew already what a move to Liverpool would mean for him as well.

I'm not sure if it's one year or two, I'd guess at two though. But listening to what he has said I doubt he'd buy his contract out. And if he had we'd probably know it by now.
