keane is a supporting striker but he is a good goal scorer too and he could take a bit of torres impact unlike gerrard and kuyt who really supported him. its not a bad thing too and would be good for the team to not rely on torres so much for goals.

lol no... i'm shocked but to be honest it's the way football is going. If he does the business for Liverpool they won't give a crap how much they paid for him.

Welcome to premier league and its highly priced players.

I think the Spurs board should be congratulated for getting such a high price for Keane. Chairman Daniel Levy is acting all put out at L`pools public courting of Keane, but I personally think this is more about placating the Spurs fans who are naturally concerned that 2 of their biggest players look to be off in the summer. I think £20m represents excellent business for Spurs.

yup it certainly seems spurs have landed a good fee for him. I wonder if he would have cost more if he were english?

Say we opted for David villa instead...whats his estimated price? £25 million? 2 years younger than robbie. Do he and Torres work well? fairly well, allthough Torres threat on goal seems negated with villa pushing high up the line.

Keane offers a different option to him. a proven link up man, 2nd striker, a proven goal scorer where ever hes gone. Less risk.

Perhaps spurs will now buy Villa them selves and we can see how well he may perform in the premiership.

I think that is a fair price for Keane given his importance to Spurs but Torres only cost a couple of million more. Like Stacie said, Liverpool wont bother so long as he plays well for them.

Liverpool to win the league? :fishing:

"He (Keane) can play with Torres or (Dirk) Kuyt or the other strikers, and also on the right.

so hes their new right winger

dont care how versatile play him as a striker not a winger ffs voronin looks bad as a winger but u put him through the middle and passes into feet he will be alot better

“The trouble with referees is that they know the rules, but they do not know the game.”
he will probably play as a 2nd striker with gerrard moving back to center midfield. kuyt will play on the right unless we bring in a right winger or pennant decides to take his finger out of his hole

Rafa sees him as a versatile player. I can't see him being played on the right too much but then you never know with Rafa.

Jimmy, he's a very good acquisition, an excellent player whose heart is in it from the start! but what of poor Voronin now?

On a realistic basis, say you can only get one more player this summer, would you buy Barry?
