True. But in future there could be the possibility that there'll be a few. But theres no chance they'l change it just to suit the Football season.

Why even have football at the olympics at all? It should be a showcase for track & field type stuff.

The argument for that is, the worlds most watched sport should be part of the biggest sporting event.

Yes but it really should only be for sports where the Olympic Gold medal is the height of achievement in that sport, so footy shouldn't be there.

But I could support the inclusion of a five-a-side tournament, a bit like amateur boxing is three rounds with protective head gear scoring points for specific punches. ie it's pretty much a different sport. A gold medal in boxing (or a good performance) can be a spring board to a future career in professional boxing, why not 5-a-side.....Good call, Monu.

Strange isn't it, Tennis defo shouldn't be there - Wimbledon, Roland Garros US and Australian open....Grand Slam events!

Baseball doesn't have a wide enough international base, who plays after USA, Mexico, Peurto Rico and Japan? I think Rugby has more representatives.

Basketball is an interesting case though because it is played widely in the world without, I believe, there being a major international tournament. I don't think the USA "Superteam" plays any other international games. So whilst I think their highly paid professionals are kind of going against the 'spirit' of the Olympics, I think that sport should be represented.

Golf?.....you're having a laugh!

Do Baseball have some sort of World Champs.? Rugby does so if what you're saying, that'll mean that Rugby shouldnt be there either.

Basketball has a World Champs. Why do you think that should be included? I cant see how you can make special cases like that.

You could also say Cycling shouldnt be included too.

Golf isnt there either :P

Im unsure on this issue as I can see both sides of the argument. Should the biggest Sporting event in the world consist of the biggest sports and the stars of them sports?
Or should it be just the less recognized sports and amateurs representing the bigger sports.
