They wouldn't move the whole Olympic tournament just so that the football season isn't interrupted. There are hundreds of sports stars there and football is a tiny minority of that. I'm all for football being kept as it is in the Olympics because it gives the younger players a chance to represent their country on a major stage, many of which wont be first team regulars in their proper national sides at 23 or under. |

Flak to be fair I think the majority of the players there are regulars rather than theother way around. |

Bacause they have to fit Olympics around lots of sports.................wont change date just because it effects football players. Anyway, Spain and Italy start 2 weeks later than us, so wont effect them, players will be back in time for 1st games. Football shouldnt even be in Olympics, or if it is it should be under 21s with no older players. |

They are flak. Look at the Argentina squad for example..all of them have caps at youth and some have senior level ones too. |

I wonder what the point is of them allowing 3 older players anyway. ![]() I looked at the Argentina team and there's only 3 players there that I know of who play regularly for Argentina. Riquelme, Mascherano and Messi. |

Gago has abotu 20 caps. Alot of them play in the U23s I think. Aguero is a regular in the sqaud too. |

“The trouble with referees is that they know the rules, but they do not know the game.”

i personally think it should be an under 21's tournament with the over age players rule scrapped. it should be there to give unknown younger players a chance to gain some experience at a world wide watched event |

Olympic football predates the world cup. Of course it's entitled to be played. |
