Surely a matter of time before Martinez gets his chance in the Prem, with or without Swansea.

NEC Nijmegen claim Swansea are showing an interest in striker Jhonny van Beukering and the Dutch club are expecting further talks within the next few days.

New Swans boss Paulo Sousa is tweaking his inherited squad ahead of a push towards earning promotion from the Championship in the coming season.

The Portuguese is keen to add to his attacking options but has seen Ipswich's Pablo Counago snub a move to the Liberty Stadium.

Van Beukering has now emerged as a potential target for Sousa, with NEC expecting contact from the Welsh side.

Carlos Aalbers, technical director of NEC, told Omroep Gelderland: "Swansea have told us that they will elaborate on their interest in the coming days.

"But I don't have anything on paper from any club,"

New signings Bjorn Vleminckx and Erton Fejzullahu have pushed Van Beukering down the pecking order at NEC.

Swans to sign strike duo

Swansea City have agreed a deal to bring Lee Trundle back to the club and are to also smash their transfer record to sign Craig Beattie.

Trundle left Swansea to join Bristol City two years ago, but he has struggled to nail down a regular first-team place at Ashton Gate.

The striker was recently told he could leave the Robins and was the subject of a failed approach from League One side Swindon Town.

A deal has now been agreed for Trundle to return to South Wales on loan until 1st January, with a view to extending his stay at the Liberty Stadium.

Swans boss Paulo Sousa has been looking to improve his attacking options and has also agreed terms to bring in Beattie from Championship rivals West Brom.

Beattie will join the club on a three-year contract subject to passing a medical and his fee will eclipse Swansea's current transfer record of £400,000.

The money will be paid over a 12-month period and could rise even higher depending on appearances and success.

Scotland international Beattie has been unable to establish himself at West Brom since joining from Celtic two years ago and the forward had spells on loan at Crystal Palace and Sheffield United last season.
