From autosport.com:

By Jonathan Noble and Pablo Elizalde Sunday, September 7th 2008, 16:08 GMT

Lewis Hamilton has lost his victory at the Belgian Grand Prix after he was given a penalty for cutting a chicane when fighting with Kimi Raikkonen.

The stewards gave Hamilton a drive-through penalty after the race had ended, meaning 25 seconds were added to his time.

The win goes to Brazilian Felipe Massa, second in the race. The penalty has dropped Hamilton to third place in the race.

More to follow.

Formula Ferrari it should be renamed. I support them but when this kinda incident happens it's beyond belief.

Watch that from 2:20. Raikkonen is right up Hamilton's backside after using the run-off area. That can be deemed illegal. Right up his arse and that's using the off-track.

He gave back the position before the racing start line, Woodbine. He fairly snatched it back at the first corner.

They will probably appeal and i think he will get his first place back. He deserves it although i don't know the rules properly but from what people have said and what Hamilton did he didn't do anything wrong.

Although they have said very few appeals are successful. :(

One of most exciting races in the past few years and it's marred by a stupid decision. Truly disappointing. Races and WC's should be won on the track rather than the board room.

If LH raced for Ferrari, dont think he would have lost race. He gave the place back..................and then re-took it.

Look at how far behind he is to LH before using the run-off and then after he's used it. Does that not look like he's gained an advantage?

It was only way he could go, LH just couldnt slam on brakes other Kimmi would have shunted him and LH couldnt pull over to outside with poss swipping Kimmi.

in the gp2 race i saw cars miss the final chicane yet they dont just go straight onto the start/finish straight, they turned back onto the chicane and did the final left hander.thats all lewis had to do and he probably would have won and kept his victory

Look at Valencia, Ferrari nearly ram another car in pit and get a 10,000 euro fine, its not a level playing field. U have Ferrari, then u have the rest.

Yeah but that's not the point of him cutting corners. The FIA demoted LH on basis of "gaining an advantage" on Kimi. Kimi gained an advantage there. If LH had been in a Ferrari I would seriously doubt he would have been penalised as harsh as that.

What same thing at Magny-Cours? The 10 place grid penalty?

i agree that kimi gained an advanatage but he didnt pass lewis because of it

no,not the 10 place penalty,he got that because of what happened in canada.i mean when he took vettel by cutting the chicane.
