A Place For Andy Reid?

He didnt start, or come off the bench agasint Georgia on Saturday. And alot of people think he should be in the team. Im undecided on this atm.

1) Do you play him on the left and let him roam? The downside is he isnt the quickest and doesnt do an awful lot of the donkey work you'll get from Hunt. This would also unbalance the team and we know that Trap likes the width.

2) Do you play him in the middle in place of Whelan? Defensivly Whelan is better but he isnt great on or with the ball. We'll need some to brake up the play so you can argue that to keep Whelan in the side.

3) Do you play him off Keane? Stan tried this a few times with Steven Ireland and it worked very well. It will also bring Keane into the game alot more as we hardly seen him agaisnt Georgia. But doing this we're losing the aerial threat of Doyle, and with the wingers playing as they are we'll need that.

No doubt he is one of our most creative players, but it will be very difficult to fit him in once Duff returns and can stay fit and if Ireland returns.

Trap has his system, and so far it has worked, so should we change it to accomdate Reid? England do it with their best players and it doesnt work. So we should probably stick with his system.

He could be used off the bench (instead of Miller who came on agaisnt Georgia ) if we're winning to keep hold of the ball for us.

Is there any point in changing a winning team if the player coming in is on a par with those currently in the team? :S

Well Whelan is better defensivly, but all-round Reid is the better player. He'd cut in when playing wide and it'd get conjested, and he doesn't do the tracking back Hunt does. Its a difficult one but I think he'll be left out - Brady has an issue with his weight...

What did Hunt do wrong? I thought he was meant to be one of Ireland's better players.

He is a good player for us yeh. But probably more effective as an impact player than over the course of 90 minutes.

Andy Reid wide right and cutting into the midfield to make a midfield 3. Andy Reid is a fit player, all this overweight cr8p does'nt wash with me, he's a first choice premier league midfielder under Roy Keane!!

Stephen Hunt is a much better player off the bench for Ireland, he's lots of energy and is willing to chase back etc etc but has'nt an ability to retain possesion. When you have McGeady on the left instead of Hunt you get a better end product. Hunt is also very liable to get booked/sent off, his tackle in the first minute was nasty and warranted a yellow card

You mean then moving into a 433? Maybe pushing Keane out to the wing?
If not then it may get overcrowded in there and only having width down the left hand side with McGeady could be a problem offensively and defensively.

Do you think he'd get into the team when/if Duff/Ireland return?

Not really a 433, just a 4-4-2 with Reid wide but not a winger and leave McGeady to play the left wing. Get Finnan to make an option on the right when attacking and Reid would be able to cut in and have a shot if the opportunities arose.

When Duff comes back I'd play him in place of McGeady on the left wing. Maybe at home to the weaker sides we could play 2 wingers but against the better teams we can't afford that luxury. Hunt & McGeady drifted in and out of the game on saturday against Georgia and for large periods were annonomus, then when they received the ball they wasted possesion needlessly or were dispossessed easily
