i was thinking rooney myself because he would be able to orchestrate things from that part of the field to a devastating effect |

Yeah well he does play like an attacking midfielder sometimes he's so deep but he can afford too normally with nobody bombing forwards from the central midfield position if United are playing 4-4-2. There's still loads of leading strikers out there if you think about it...Yakubu, Saha, Bent, Pavulychenko, Owen, Martins, Viduka, Defoe, Crouch...that's just from 3 teams. |

then theres the likes of ashton, c.cole, harewood, carew, zamora.. the list is endless really. its not that theres a lack of them in my eyes, its just leading strikers have adapted in a different way to suit the modern game. if a team doesnt have a natural number 9 in their team, i would class 2nd (or number 10) strikers as leading strikers because they have to the lead the mine of attack. yeah he does seem to do that a lot when i have seen him play oh btw flak i think you need to go back to school and do maths, thats 4 teams. everton, spurs, newcastle and pompey :P |

I really like DD when he has got his head screwed on right, but RVN's scorinbg record is amazing. They have always said, that a sign of a great striker is a player that can score 1 goal every 2 games. RVN has bettered that in the last 8 out of ten seasons (and he was injured to majority of the 2 seasons he didnt manage it) He was/is poss the best out and out striker thats still playing today when it comes to pure goal scoring. |

I should pay more attention.I wouldn't class a number 10 as a leading striker if there's no number 9. They might be asked to play further forwards but I don't think they are that effective in that role...at least Rooney and Tevez aren't when asked to play there. Yup RVN is the best, not only because of his goalscoring record but because of the seamless transition between countries as well. |

thats why i think strikers are evolving so they can play both roles effectively. look at ade he can play as a traditional loan striker or as a support striker, bojan is the same and i think robinho could do it to |

Yeah they could do it because they have the qualities to play the roles but they all have their best position and that's where they should be played. Oh BTW thefields I think you need to go back to school and do English, it's lone not loan.

Do players need to be versatile and adaptable if you have 11 players that only play the one position? I had to get my own back somehow. :P |

with all this attack as one and defend as one 4-5-1 formation i would think the attacking players in that formation would have to be |
