Maybe they wanted to play? Especially Lampard with it being against Uncle 'arry's team. Think they had strong teams in the cups the previous years too...I remember Lampard scoring a lot of goals in the early rounds....think Shevchenko might have even scored as well.
Sahar is out on loan at Pompey. Not sure about their other youth players.

Franco Di Santo Scott Sinclair Michael Mancienne Miroslav Stoch Those are the only youth players in their first team squad. I've seen Mancienne play for the England under 21s a few times, he's ok. |

Frank scores all types of goals - 30 yard thunderbolts, penalties, free-kicks, cheeky, placed, volleys and poacher's goals...just like he did today. |

I know but that is how he the overated tag put on him you wont see frank doing this as a cm or england because he wont be playing in the same position or role as a am....he basicly has a free role and gets too many easy goals. he has good off the ball movements but the amount of tap ins and pens he scores makes him look better than he is... still think he is the player to be stopped so far. i watched him against man city. was immense...first time in about 3-4 years i seen him play like that |

He is on fire so far this season....................saying that, Scolari has got the Chelsea team playing the smoothest football if have ever seen them play. I loved JM, but he was defensive minded. Grant was just out of his depth, but this Scolari has added something to the team thats making them a great team to watch. Maybe we will lose "the most boring team to watch" tag. |

Chelsea have too many superstar players in their large squad to waste playing opportunities on youth. Malouda for example might be a great player but it's a struggle for him to get a look in, even playing 5 in midfield he needs two to be injured before he gets game time. Not playing the likes of him and Bridge last night could have caused more tears and upset. Big Fil has to play first team squad players so they'll have appearances and starts to count come the end of the season. |

No footballer is worth that but Chelsea must think that he is indispensable and I tend to agree although it would be interesting to see how Deco and Ballack especially do if Lampard was out for any length of time. |

yea he looks valuable now but in two years time he wont be able to go box to box and when the goals dry up he will be past it and still with three years on his contract |
