He'll be worth it because he is only 19. Unlike Keane it's not really much of a gamble.

what i mean is if you didnt have £18m then you arent going to have £20m.. especially with the owners struggling to refinance before christmas

They did have the money for him (Barry) but they didn't think he was worth it because he had no resale value.

 if you say so

Our purchase of Keane for 20+ million after courting/bidding for Barry should prove that we did indeed have the funds but were not prepared to pay the asking price. :)

To pay £4 million over the odds for Keane and then say you didn't buy Barry cos you thought he was over-priced doesn't hold up. IMO that means you didn't have enough to buy both, I don't know if the situation has changed so now you can spend another £20 mill....

But is that 4 million over the odds based on your personal valuation though?

Perhaps LFC do believe Robbie was worth the amount they paid and were thus happy pay it...but with Barry they felt it wasnt a reasonable asking price? Especially with him having (from what i know) 1 year left on his contract?

I think most people accept Keane was over-priced tbf.

I think the difference in the way spurs and aston villa handled it also had a lot to do with it. I can't see spurs giving in as easily on Bale this time IF the story is true which I have my doubts on for the reasons already mentioned.

I like Bale, he's a good player. I think these reports are made up though with already having two left backs...

Next move for Liverpool is probably a right winger.

its as simple as this, we need to sort the right side out now. degen is aurelio with a right foot, so we need a new right back and unless were going to play gerrard or babel on the right wing we need a new right winger
