I'm a naughty boy
"We had a lot of offers from clubs who wanted to buy him in the summer – three or four clubs were interested – but we stuck to our guns because we believe in him... He’ll be a future centre-half for Manchester United, there’s no doubt about that."

"That’s a vindication of our belief in the boy, and also to prove to himself that he can believe what we’re saying to him, that he will play a lot of football at this club. He’ll get plenty of games here."

Ferguson also believes that the loans spells he spent away from the club, at Antwerp and also at Sunderland, accelerated his progression:

"He had six months at Antwerp as a young kid at 17, then he had two spells at Sunderland and did really well. In fact, I think Sunderland could have been relegated last season if it wasn’t for the stability of Jonny Evans."

"I watched him for Northern Ireland against the Czech Republic recently and he was very good indeed. He’s only 20 years old but he’s already got 11 international caps. He’ll be a fixture for Northern Ireland now, I imagine he’ll be their captain in time, he’s an outstanding candidate for that and he’s a boy with great talent. We’re pleased with his progress," Ferguson beamed.

I've been impressed when he's played. Doesn't look as if it'l be another Rossi/Pique case.

I hope it's not another Rossi/Pique...I did think he looked a bit slow against Villarreal though...

yep suprised at how good he does look my worry is though is he going to get enough games to aid his development he needs games at this stage of his career going on loan again isn't really what he needs satbillity is want he needs and if he isnt getting 20- 30 games at utd i dont think it will be long untill he wants more football
According to my calculations the problem doesn't exist

He's classy enough I think. Definately would be a first choice centre back at at least 10-12 premiership leagues. Pique & Rossi were only bought to be sold on at a profit anyways I think, were never given a chance at OT.

DaGunners posing as a United fan. :P

He's not going to break the Ferdinand/Vidic partnership up so he'll only be used in cup games or because of injuries probably. Surprised he didn't play in the cup the other night.

so if he is as good as people are making him out to be is he going to be happy with being a reserve CB?

Good prospect, very happy with his performance against Chelsea he could so easily have been out of his depth but he handled it well.

Probably not which is why Fergie is coming out with this "you'll get games speel".

Being patient for 3 years is a big ask and even at the end of it he wont be guaranteed a place. It might help that he's a lifelong United fan though...

The Rio Vidic partnership won't be broken for another 2-3 years presuming neither decline nor move...so yes, a player of Evans quality may get frustrated. He is only 19 however yet would probably be a starter in the Arsenal side...

Real quality, only big things ahead for this lad.

I don't think Rossi and Pique were bought to sell on, that's ridiculous. Both were young and very classy, but unfortunately for them one was behind Rooney, and then Tevez as well, the other behind Rio/Vidic in the pecking order.

Always thought Rossi had enough skill to become the AM after Scholes and Pique was a cultured CB in the Rio mould.

they weren't bought to sell particularly if you remember too that even a few years ago there were murmurings of home grown player minimum requirements, home grown also includes those who have come through your academy, they both therefore would have qualified.
