I'd be surprised if he does ref next week. |

Yeah he might be suspended. Two terrible weeks of reffing in a row in two massive games and he's meant to be one of the most highly rated refs. |

Well he did give a bad decision in favour of Chelsea last season when he gave that phantom pen at Anfield. Was he reffing in the lower league after that? |

Not sure if it was lower league but he didn't do a prem game. Might not have reffed at all. |

In that case it's a nice way to get a couple of week holiday when Stiles feels like it. Looks like his Mrs is booking the holiday trips and Rob is making the dodgy decisions to get the time off <_< |

do we dictate that Styles makes 1 really poor decison and is demoted, but Riley makes several less important but still frankly bad decisions but is ok to carry on? overall, Riley had the worse performance as a ref, but will carry on |

Both should be punished really or at least held accountable for their actions in some way. A fine or whatever. |

you can't fine a ref for a poor decision. you don't fine strikers for missing goals, defenders for own goals etc. but they need to be accountable in a reasoned light. On a side note, Wonder how many people on here (or critiques full stop) have refereed a Sunday league game, for arguments sake. It's 1000 times harder than you think it is |

Yeah thats a fair point but why don't they just come on tv after the match and just hold their hands up and say look I fcked up. I made a mistake but with the best will in the world I made a decision I believed to be right at the time. He would get some credit for being a man about it. A lot of these refs come across as little hitlers on the pitch and arrogant cowards off it. |

A ref did do that once, it was Man Utd v Newcastle and the ref denied Shearer a blatant penalty, he came out after the game and said "I'm really sorry, I had doubt in my mind and I wasn't in the best position, I made a mistake." He was then praised by the nation. |

Agreed, but I'm sure Hackett (ref's cheif) has banned his refs from doing this. |
