Looking at the Man United forums lately ive seen some topics started which claim the term "Man Utd" is offensive as it laughs at the Munich Air Crash whereas other "fans" claim this isnt so?

So basically which is it, thanks in advance

No, it's Man Utd that's offensive.

Man Utd = Man Utd = ties in with death toll.

Anyway, most people that say it are oblivious to the origin.

It changed because Flak obviously knows it can be considered offensive ;)

No RD, it's with reference to the term Man (U) - it can only be written on the forum like this cos the U automatically gets changed to Utd as Flak perhaps didn't want to cause offense (like swear words do on here). But the term Man..U was used as a derogatory remark after the Munich aircrash by some rival fans.

I know about it, but too young to know enuff about it or take offense tbh.

I've also noticed many times on SS News / Gillette Soccer Saturday where they scroll through each of the divisions on the right hand side and the lastest scores, United is always written as Man.U (eg. Man.U 2 - 0 Chelsea :p ) so I'm guessing the term doesn't have the same affect these days.

I remember this thread long ago and it annoyed as I didn't see how it related to the air disaster. IMO it's just people easily taking offence of a shortend tag for the club.
