evra should be banned for 10 games for punching him and lying about the racist slurs

pathetic behaviour
what do sort of punishments do you think Jamie Carragher should of got for:

1) performing a sex act in a public place?
2) throwing coins into a crowd?
3) physically and verbally attacking fans whilst warming down?

just out of interest, obviously...

pathetic punishment??? its one of the biggest losses to united. that means we must now play O'Shea. four games equates to a month out, not to mention two cup games and stoke away. hes also missing the spurs game where bentley and lennon will be attacking at O'Shea

DIP it's friday night and you're obviously feeling a bit over-excited...so let me enlighten you and put things in perspective for you :D

Probably the best example to compare "fisti-cuffs" on a pitch is Lee Bower and Kieren Dyer's little punch up in 2005. Lee Bowyer who was the instigator and who's actions perhaps bear the closest resemblence to Evra's was handed a 4 match ban. On the face of it looks like Evra was handed a fair sentence, until you look a further into Bowyer's checkered past...

DECEMBER 1996: Fined £4,500 after admitting to throwing chairs across a McDonald’s restaurant after drinking with friends. Keith Grant, the magistrate, says that he nearly jailed Bowyer.

JANUARY 2000: Banned from playing for England by the FA after he and team-mates Tony Hackworth and Jonathan Woodgate are accused of assaulting Sarfraz Najeib, an Asian student, outside a Leeds nightclub. He was eventually cleared of all charges.

MAY 2001: Given a three-match ban by Uefa for stamping on Juan Sánchez in the first leg of Leeds’s European Cup semi-final against Valencia.

DECEMBER 2001: Cleared of grievous bodily harm and affray after two high-profile Crown Court trials. Bowyer is transfer-listed by Leeds after refusing to accept a £64,000 fine for failing to adhere to the club’s code of conduct but performs a dramatic about-turn two days later.

FEBRUARY 2002: Banned for six matches and fined £10,000 by the FA after being found guilty of elbowing Gary McAllister, the Liverpool midfield player, and swearing at Jeff Winter, the referee, during a match against Arsenal.

JANUARY 2003: Given a six-match ban by Uefa for stamping on Gerardo, the Málaga midfield player, during Leeds United’s Uefa Cup tie the previous month.

Considering his previous and Evra's exemplery record in comparison the sentence based on a first offence AFTER a match ffs seems a tad harsh

lol just joking

you do have a good point but i do think the fa are not strict enough on players behaving like this. whether it is my own team or someone elses i think they should be made a example of to stop others doing it in the future

TBH it wouldnt suprise me if the FA took the Chelsea match into account when handing down a 4 game ban. Maybe they felt it would cause to many probs if he had to miss that match. 4 games seem about fair to me.
