when was the last time you did something for the first time??

Paul Ince, the manager of Blackburn Rovers, rounded on his critics last night, accusing them of conspiring to get him sacked because they are envious of his career as a successful player for Manchester United. In an extraordinary outburst, Ince claimed that people were desperate to see the likes of him and Roy Keane — who resigned as manager of Sunderland this week — fail because of the success they enjoyed as “snarling” midfield players at Old Trafford. Blackburn are nineteenth in the Barclays Premier League and play host to Liverpool, the leaders, at Ewood Park today. Defeat, coupled with a West Bromwich Albion victory at home to Portsmouth tomorrow, would leave the Lancashire club propping up the table with no wins in ten league matches and could spell the end of Ince’s 5½-month reign. More likely, though, is the prospect of Ince being shown the door should Blackburn fail to take anything from their subsequent league games at home to Wigan Athletic and away to Stoke City Graeme Souness, the former Blackburn manager, whose name was sung lustily by the club’s supporters during the 5-3 Carling Cup quarter-final defeat by Manchester United at Old Trafford on Wednesday, has been touted as a possible successor, with Tugay Kerimoglu operating alongside the Scot in a player-assistant manager capacity. “I think there are people out to get us,” Ince said. “They look at Keane and I in our Manchester United days and see us as snarling old people, but we are not like that. We are nice guys, family men. I think people are envious and don’t want us to succeed. I want people to understand the hard facts and not just focus on two men who are trying to make their way and kick us around all the bloody time.” |

Ok here is how i see it. Rovers are a team who have been finishing in the top 10 and fighting for europe over the last few seasons, causing some upsets to the top 4 along the way. Now we are really up sh1t creek. People may say there is plenty of time left, but there isnt really. If we are bottom at Christmas i think we will get relegated. Personally i have nothing against Ince as a bloke, but i think Prem management isnt for him YET. Signing Fowler, Andrews are not inspirational signings are they. Not replacing Bentley was a huge mistake. Fans are upset with those signings and the signing of Grella for x amount of million to spend his time in the treatment room. Fans are angry that we are 2nd bottom and we cant see where our nxt points coming from. He asks for time, but we dont have it. We cant afford to give him money in Jan for him to make poor signings. I admire him for taking the job, Mark Hughes was a hard act to follow for anyone. I think we need to act now before Blackburn sink, if we do get relegated we will struggle to come back up!! Also, i have been reading rovers forums for a few weeks now, and i havnt come across any members who say we should back him. Starting to feel sorry for Ince actually, he has a massive task on his hands. I would love for him to be able to turn it around but i cant see it happening. If he stays and we get relegated, we are finished. |

Altho he has a point about the decades of anti-united bias by the media, in this instance it really has nothing to do with it. He's been disappointing and the results speak for themselves. It's a shame cos when the vacancy became available I thought he would be a good candidate and it would be good to see another british manager in the prem. Unfortunately it's not turned out like that. In hindsight I think he would have been better off as either a number 2 under another manager in the prem OR successfully managed a club in the Championship BEFORE getting the manager's job in any prem club. |

“The trouble with referees is that they know the rules, but they do not know the game.”

how many other black managers in the premiership? surely fans have noticed that there is a bit of fight about blackburn. it was evident during the utd match because they still tried to get back into the match. its a bit like when southgate started out and was working towards his badges, boro's chairman stood by him and supported him. hes now made boro a bit more stable. with blackburn they expect what hughes did to carry on but a new manager has different ideas and ways of working. which take time to implement and come to fruition. time and patience is needed especially with the way the premiership is this season because anything can happen |

Whats him being black got to do with anything. Hes clearly not cut out for it YET, why should Rovers risk there premiership survival for someone to try and become a succesful manager. We dont have time. Hes not ready, maybe one day he will be a great manager, but not at Blackburn, What we need now is someone with experience to drag us out of this sh1t INCE has put us in |

everything if theres a conspiracy against him i see your point of view el but you have to look at the bigger picture. a couple of results go your way and your back up the table. sacking him now would only disrupt the team further and may push you towards relegation rather than pull you away from it to be fair tho DIP he did well at blackburn and are you old enough to actually remember what he did at anfield? All this young managers debate has intrested me especially in the case of Ince. The outburst was strange and uneeded, when I heard it I thought he was about to cry, that's not a way to prove himself. He needs his head down and let the results do the talking. Also a manager's life expectancy in a job is drasticly shorter than it was in the 90's. I agree that in hindsight he probably wasn't the greatest choice but they've appointed him they need to stick with him. They can't cave in to the fan/media pressure after 15 games, the board has to stay thick skined and stick through it. Way things are shaping up couple of wins and it's all fine and dandy again. When they appointed him, they said they wanted someone fresh and ambitious to take on the roll, sacking him after 15 games goes back completely in what they said. They need to co-operate, keep working as a team. |
