No way does he. Hargreaves is the much better tackler. Hargreaves makes great runs from the midield with the ball. Much more energetic than Carrick. Also plays better in the big games... |

Hargreaves tackles, Carrick intercepts. Carrick wins the ball more though i'd say. Hargreaves can't pass forwards. |

A better tackler is needed against hte top sides as they're unlikely to give the ball away as much though! Hargreaves is a very good crosser of the ball... |

Hargreaves hardly wins the ball back though, he just runs lots. Fletcher is a better tackler than him especially in big games. Crossing is required for a central midfielder?

Yes but he hassles midfielders and puts them under pressure, unlike Carrick who just sits off them. Fletcher a better tackler than Hargreaves? No chance! It shows he can pass a ball though. You don't always have to cross a ball from out wide. |

This is a moot point cos Hargo is out indefinitely so as it stands Carrick will be first choice until he forks fergie off somehow lol. I don't see Carrick as the problem it's Hargo we need to replace now imo... |

carrick isnt mobile enough, hargreaves can win a ball back more often than carrick because he is quicker and a better tackler of the ball. carrick is good yes but no world beater, he has been giving good performances but not ripping teams apart or anything like that. i think one of the reasons fergy got him was because he is english and already settled in the pl. he could of gotten someone with more quality perhaps for less money |

so fergie could have got someone better for less money??? thats mental, why would he buy the more expensive worse player? carrick offers more than most see in him possibly the most underrated player in the prem |

It's easy to see the affect Carrick has had on United winning the 2 titles since he arrived. Just look at wtf was going on when we had Alan Smith in midfield ffs. The only player we bought in the summer of 2006 was Michael Carrick. And the rest is history

lol no doubt he was an improvement on Alan Smith. But we had this discussion a few pages back and you lot seem to be forgetting Vidic and Evra. |

yer but thats that same with united i dont think carrick is only there to make up the numbers for the CL when u look at the fact we have rooney rio scholes giggs neville brown foster oshea evans (the none english players go toward the players trained by the club). just the other week u were sayign to drop alonso so u could play keane yet now ur saying alonso is ur best player. carrick does the same as alonso but id say carrick is better at getting the ball back and alonso slightly better at passing it. carrick has got an end product, the amount of passes he makes and completes is up there with scholes and cesc Minutes per pass Paul Scholes 1.16 Francesc Fabregas 1.23 Michael Carrick 1.39 Frank Lampard 1.42 John Obi Mikel 1.44 |

Aye Vidic and Evra came into their own too as did Ronaldo ofcourse as well as a phenominal season from Scholes, but if Carrick was so rubbish in the middle United would not have had the balance they needed to win over the course of a season. My point being the season before fergie was getting pelters for trying to play Alan Smith there and our midfield was getting exposed badly. |
