Would West Ham have been a Champions League club if they didn't sell all of their players? Players like Ferdinand, Lampard, Joe Cole, Defoe. Uncle Harry seems to think so.

they'd definitely be better than arsenal at this moment in time... and its quite possible chelsea wouldn't be the same team without joe cole and lampard

thinks about what their team might look like...

.... Green...
Neil ......Rio ferdinand.... Upson....glen johnson

mascherano... michael carrick...frank lampard

carlos tevez.....dean ashton.....joe cole

Bench
David James
Fredi Kanoute
Mark Noble
Anton Ferdinand
Scott Parker
Craig Bellamy
Julian Faubert....

to be fair... i think that team would perform better than the current arsenal team is... and if you look at it, chelsea's major life force is found within the likes of john terry, frank lampard, and joe cole... if you take away lampard and joe cole, you get a less creative and lesser scoring chelsea team... there aren't too many players that they can buy for their midfielder that would replace the goals and assists of frank lampard and joe cole

Tevez and Masch were not legally there and would Green, Ashton etc... be there if they had kept the other players also Defoe would be in that team. I don't think James started his career there either. Also Would Upson be there if they had kept Ferdinand? I doubt it.

They couldn't carry the rest of the players. :p

That looks a good team Ragavan, it would certainly be challenging for 4th i'd have said.

(and Di Canio)

If all those players went BACK to WHU then the club would be much stronger than they are.

However, Carrick, Lampard, Cole and Defoe have all improved somewhat since leaving, and it could be argued that they might not have done so if they had stayed at WH

This would have to be balanced of course by the fact that Rio has got worse ! :fishing:
