At the risk of a torrent, can I just ask :-

How come Rio is even nominated when even most Utd fans admit that he has had a pretty dodgy season so far.

Ditto VDS really (at further risk)

So how come these so called footie experts can't even workout who is having a good season based on form not reputation. Makes a mockery of the whole system me thinks

Bloody Rio - charmed life or what
Incase you didn't realise, Rio led United to the PL title and Champions League with a string of wonderful performances, most notably against Roma and Barcelona x2.
So (even if I accept your point), you're saying that it should be called 'Team of the first 5 months of the Year' then

Well the most meaningful games are played in the last 5 months of the season, and Rio was absolutely unbelievable. He's been dodgier this season for whatever reason but has still be solid in the opening 3 months of the season.

On a side not, all of these separate awards are a joke, so many are similar to each other.

LOL - so it's OK for (let's make this more general) 'someone' to get carried through the 'less meaningful' early games (despite this obviously risking their chances of not even making it to the 'more meaningful' games), as long as he doesn't bodge the CL Final etc ??

Then take a look at Jamo - just cos this hasn't happened to any high-profile and much-feted Utd CBs (for example) - doesn't mean it won't.

Also, if Utd win the CL and / or PL this year, then we should all accept that Rio is God (even tho we all know he has been dodgy this season) ? And not question his captaincy and life Presidency of the 'team of the Universe next year and the year after (despite him, allegedly, never having left the planet) :)

How's he being carried?

Vidic has got it easier with continuity at left-back and is only now starting to hit some top form. A couple of dodgy passes at Goodison does not detract from the fact Ferdinand's brilliance beared huge influence on United's European triumph.

OK Mate - I thought that I was having this discussion having already established that Rio has been a bit shaky this season (even Treble conceded that this has been true since he came back from injury, others for longer, the brave and true even recognise issues LAST season too !!)

However, if you are only prepared to concede a 'couple of passes' in one game, and then bang on about last season, we probably ain't gonna get very far :)

BTW : How long has this 'Contnuity' been playing in Evra's place :)

I wasn't really thinking about whether they could play together...these teams normally don't anyway when they get picked.

Then why Rooney and ARshavin?
Read my comment again.

Ferdinand was United's second best player behind Ronaldo last season so I don't see why he shouldn't be there really, there's not many better centre backs in the world last year....if any.

When I voted for my players I was thinking it was for the whole of last season, it isn't?

My comment still stands. If you weren't thinking about it than why did you choose Rooney? Villa (for example) had a much better season that him.

i thought he proved himself as one of the best Dcm in the world over the last season, and has come on so much since his "excellent" start to life with west ham

I hear Senna and Xavi were better last year, think Flamini might have been better as well. Not sure who was in UEFA's crap choices for defensive midfield. :S

What are you on about Masch? Mascherano continuously tackles dangerously in my opinion and generally isn't the best dm around at all. Flams was leagues above him last season.
