well if you say Moyes can "rival him" that is going to set off a debate between the two of course.

"However I reckon theres at least one manager there to rival him, and potentially usurp him...."

In fairness to DaGunners, I can see how the above could make it Wenger v Moyes.
Only if you don't have a brain, and I don't mean that in a bad way....

Anyone can see (or should be able to see) that that reflects how highly we should consider Moyes achievements in the transfer market....
I think its just someone on a high horse looking to start a Sky Sports type thread and later criticize others. Just an observation I have made. Off to class...
Nah I think you're wrong. If Jimmy had compared him to Fergie as the benchmark I would have considered that as high praise for the United manager considering he's a fan of a rival club. At the very least I would have credited Moyes for what he's done even if I didn't agree with Jimmy, but there you go

great idea for a thread btw, bruce has done well at wigan with his signings, interesting thing about wenger is his ability to buy players and mould them into different positions, viera was a defender when he signed him and henry was a winger, infact keown said when henry first joined the gunners he couldnt hit a barn door

Jimmy wrote: "...Wenger will be instantly thrown into the pot here, and for damn good reason too as he has picked up some amazing players for a pittance..."

What Dagunners translated that to: "Wenger doesnt have a bloody clue. He is a massively overated manager who has just been lucky in the transfer market and its all because of his scouts and not him anyway. Moyes pi55es all over him in every regard"

Wenger is a great manager, however he is also stubborn. His management has brought a great deal of success to Arsenal over the last decade but it COULD POSSIBLY also be his management that allows them to drift out of the top 4.

Back on topic: Moyes has done superbly, its good to see what can be done when a manager is allowed time to actually build a team. I was disappointed when they broke into the top 4 but failed to capitalise on it and keep it up. I wouldnt complain at seeing Moyes come to United. It is a question of whether he would be able to acheive more with the greater resources at his disposal or whether he is at his best managing a smaller (no slight intended) club.

How is Wenger stubborn? Because he doesn't spend much? If you think that's the case there is no way I could possibly debate it...

the team could be at the bottom of the table and Wenger would still say that they only need a "1 or 2% improvement" to win the title.

But im not hijacking Jimmy's thread anymore. I've chosen to go and hijack his inaugaration thread instead :cheeky:

dagunners what you are not taking into account,is the fact that everton cannot atract the type of players aresenal can,so what is being said is correct, would wenger have done as well at everton as moyes, maybe not.

also you say he bought vierra/henry when they were hardly known,so why did he break the wage structure in england at the time of 30.000 a wk he paid them 45.000 a wk,after that everyone had to up the wages if they wanted top players, dont get me wrong i think wenger is a great manager best in the prem besides fergie IMO,but credit is due to moyes.

I think David Moyes is a great manager. Totally turned Everton around.

Definitely although he concentrated more on older players but still did the best with what he had at his disposal. You only have to look at Bolton after he left to see how well he had them playing.

Going To Make You An Offer You Cant Refuse.
Wenger has a lot more to offer than Moyes, and has bought great young players for pittance due to a wonderful scouting network, and possibly stubborness to spend big. I am not doubting Wenger as he is a true genius in the footballing world for what he has done, Arsenal play some of the most attractive football around.

On the other hand Everton are not such a big club, and were fighting with relegation when Moyes came in, he revamped the club tore out the rubbish and made it his own team, with less to offer than Arsenal, Moyes gets my vote.

Mention to Allardyce, who used the free transfer system wonderfully and took Bolton to heights im sure they never could of achieved without him.
