"This isn't going to happen overnight. This football club is still building. We are 16 weeks into the owners taking control. On a 10-year journey that is not a lot of time."

It seems like a lot longer than 16 weeks that the new owners have been at City. I wonder with him saying about a 10 year journey just how commited the owners are.

I dont think it shows less commitment, i think its shows that they are more realistic.

We cant knock the lack of commitment, they just tried to sign Kaka for daft money. Him turning them down was a kick in the teeth and has probably made them realise that it isnt going to be as easy as they thought.

By commitment I meant are they in it for the long haul. 10 years doesn't seem like a very long time in the grand scheme of things considering it'll probably be a few seasons before they get Champions League football the way things are going.

when your a fan such as myself, have been on more ups and downs than a tarts undergarments.
10 years is such a short time, more realistic than the 3-4 years that have been quoted or misquoted as the case may be.

IMO i think this 10 year journey is to make the club run the same why united does and make it a profitable business. man city need to get the champions league position before they can start this rolling properly.

they need to first do what chelsea did and buy the best players from the prem in each possition outside man utd, chelsea, liverpool and arsenal. chelsea signed duff, parker, veron, joe cole, bridge, glen johnson(though he never did much at chelsea), all players settled to the league so it wouldent be a case of a whole team having to adapt. they took blackburn, charlton and west hams best players.

then they added the players from foreign leagues like mutu and crespo. the best signing of all was makalele

buying in the settled players would help them in the short term, which would stabilize the club n the top half and have them pushing for europe, then bring in players from the other leagues to strenghern areas for the next push(whilst still having the other players incase the new ones r flops)

That's a bit like what they are trying to do I think. Bellamy, Bridge established Premier League players then your rising stars like Kompany and a top class player like Robinho. Probably why they are also linked with Blackburn's best striker and Newcastle's goalkeeper.

Don't think they will ever be profitable if they spend millions on superstars though.

but they have lot more money than chelsea. the could probably just give man city £6billion to use and they wouldn't notice its not there. their financial power is alot higher than anything ever seen in football. if a wage cap came in, at say £150k a week then it would be alot easier to become profitable as they wouldent be offering people £26m a year

It'd be easier for them to be profitable but probably harder to get players that want to move for the money. Don't think they'll breakeven if they follow the same business plan as Chelsea, doubt they'll be too bothered either tbh with all their money.

What happens when 10 years is up MC? 20 years?
