Interesting read, certainly sentiments echoed outside of the Rafa fan club.

There isn't really a good time to respond to a WUM during the season. To be fair to Rafa, if he'd waited til the end of the season and Liverpool ended up winning it, he'd look more petty referring back to it.
Perhaps he should've said nothing at all, but if he really felt the need to respond, best to do it immediately and get it over with, imo.

Im not sure about wrong time but he totally over reacted. I know people said he did it in a controlled and calculated way but that makes it worse. Instead of brushing off the comments he came out 2-3 days in a row with comments he had put a lot of thought and effort into. That is the worst part in my opinion.

yeah i think more people were going on about the things he said rather than the time he said them... it's only now with hindsight that people can talk about the timing as being a bad thing because of their last two results combined with United's.

i think we can all agree what rafa said was correct

the problem is which again we can all agree he didnt back up his words with results and because of that rafa was wrong to do this

if he had won and united dropped points, people would be saying the pressure got to fergy but that didnt happen so people will say pressure got to rafa
no

I personally think rafa was wrong to collate info going back to last season, it has nothing to do with this season's campaign.

But the bottom line is that he created this issue, and has to deal with the consequences now.

bottom line is if the board members took their fingers out of their ass and hurried up with a few things like Rafa's contract, Agger's contract etc. then Rafa would have no need to make these public annoucements...

Fact is yet again our board and mainly Coco the bloody clown are dragging their heels when it comes to contract negoiations when this should be sown up a.s.a.p.

Have to disagree with you Kenny, Liverpool were renowned for keeping their 5hit in house. Rafa does this all publicly, it unsettles all around him and makes him and the club look unprofessional. Whatever his grievances, justified or not, he should let his feelings be known behind closed doors. Liverpool were always known for that, United still maintain that. I hazard a guess that if a manager at Liverpool had done this sort of thing 20 years ago he would have been out on his ear pretty soon afterwards...

the game has changed since the years of Bill Shankley, Bob Paisley, Joe Fagan... 20 years ago, there wasn't inside information, or the internet, or an intense focus on football clubs from the media like there is now, so stuff like this was always going to get out in the open, and lets be honest, he has stated his intentions in house, the owners refused, and he's taking it to the next level.

but the timing of all of this now is just a tad silly. just needs a complete stop to it, and thats either by firing Rafa, or getting in the terms he wants, get Agger on a better deal and be done with it.

the timing is wrong but the only because comments are coming from Rafa.

Which ever way you look at this, Rafa is the one stirring the pot, there is only silence around his noise

Some clubs still manage to contain things in house, United and Arsenal being 2 good examples. Yeah, the internet, insider gossip etc is gonna get out but you won't catch the managers washing their linen in public as far as their differences with the club are concerned. Even tho they may have those differences they won't admit to them in public let alone try and argue the toss about them in public. Even taking Arsene as an example nobody knows what the situation is with his spending power or budget at the club, ppl give their own opinions on the matter but nobody outside the club has a clue. He doesn't start arguing it in public. Even when one of his biggest allies at the club in Dein was forced out you didn't hear a comment from Wenger.

maybe the yanks have set the precedence for the way it currently is at Liverpool ? and benitez has simply followed suit and gone down the same route? :S
