Juventus have stepped up their interest in Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt as they try and find a replacement for Pavel Nedved.

The Czech star's agent Mino Raiola sent the warning shots to the Bianconeri on Wednesday by insisting his client would not accept a pay-as-you-play deal.

Juventus wasted no time in reacting to the words. Reports suggest that they have since moved to sign Kuyt, leading to suggestions that Nedved will retire at the end of term.

Il Corriere Dello Sport claims the Bianconeri are ready to launch a €30 million bid for the 28-year-old Dutch international. Juventus have already made contact with the player's agent, and it is believed negotiations will begin within the next week.

The Bianconeri cannot afford to waste any time in finding a replacement as Nedved's deal will expire in June. Juve will need to bring in substitute for the former Ballon d'Or winner sooner rather than later if they are to avoid any awkward crossover period.

There is no way Juve will replace Nedved with Kuyt no offence to Kuyt but he can't replace Nedved especially for that money.

How is Kuyt even remotely similar to Nedved

28 million, thanks very much. :D (I blame that kind of fee on city) :ph43r:

 Ranieri's prime target to replace Nedved is Diego.

That report is bullocks. Juve were not willing to pay 25M for Diego, a far superior player to Kuyt...
