Monu I am sure. Hicks always wants to buy 1% to become majority shareholder. There was some man on SSNews in manchester who was talking about the takeover. |

Al-Kharafi denies Liverpool buyout report Published Date: January 23, 2009 KUWAIT: Al-Kharafi denied yesterday reports that it was negotiating a buyout of English Premier League club Liverpool. “Al-Kharafi Group is not at the moment looking to a buy a club,” a source within the group told Kuwait Times. “Our main concern is to promote and advertise Port Ghalib and this rumor about Liverpool probably came from that.” The source indicated that Mohammad Abdulmohsin Al-Kharafi and Sons Company (MAK) was looking at the possibility of sponsoring a club as a means of promoting the Egyptian tourist resort. Port Ghalib is a luxury vacation destination on the Red Sea built by the Al-Kharafi company. Last year, reports surfaced that Al-Kharafi was looking at Newcastle as well. But it’s likely that those reports also had to do with the company’s interest in sponsoring a Premier League club. London’s Daily Telegraph reported on Thursday that Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks had held talks with representatives from Al-Kharafi regarding a possible £600 million buyout of the club. Liverpool has been seeking a buyer for months, having talked with Dubai Investment Capital. The owners also alienated many Liverpool fans by holding what were supposed to be clandestine talks with former Germany coach Jurgen Klinsmann about possibly taking over from the Reds’ hugely-popular manager, Rafael Benitez. Plans for the new stadium, which would have cost over 400 million pounds to build, have been shelved indefinitely because there is no prospect of Hicks and Gillet raising the funds required. The Liverpool Echo newspaper meanwhile reported that a prominent European businessman had also expressed an interest in buying part or all of Liverpool. |

another thing to detract our season. 1st its rafa with his crazy out of the blue facts, then its his contract and now its a take over  i hope this is a good thing and not a bad thing. i want the yanks out but only if the person coming is going to run the club like it should be and not run it into debt. we need a new stadium to compete with arsenal and utd in the ground revenue stakes. we also need to compete in the transfer market. i am pretty sure no one would be safe if rafa had a hole burning in his pocket |

We're going to get this circus about the ownership of the club going on for the next 4-5 months at least I reckon. It's never really quietened down since the americans took over. I can't see any way that the yanks will still own the club come the start of next season as neither of them will be able to get the needed funds to sort out their loan. We'll go to someone and whilst the grass isn't always greener on the other side, I do believe that theres not many out there that could do a worse job in terms of publicity and failing to keep things in house. Money wise we could find ourselves with potentially someone with a lot more money but I think the majority of that will be pushed towards getting the new stadium sorted and thus the transfer funds will be in a pretty similar situation. For me I wouldn't mind that at all, first and foremost I want to see the club stable and then the new stadium begun, thats our long term future and is the most important part of where the money needs to be spent. After that if theres money for transfers then great, if it means selling before buying still then so be it. We have to look long term, not quick fix |

majority of funds will be on new stadium but to compete with united and chelsea i think rafa needs at least 20m budget per season, united add a 30m player each season...liverpool need to do similar as their team is almost built bit they need the odd talent in positions like right wing and right back to win us those extra games |
